Ruth

Nan saved for nearly a year for that television. On Saturday nights the neighbours' children came round and sat in a row on the rug, and she made them all cocoa before the programme started.

Clive · Ruth's uncle

I always sat closest to the screen, and I was told off for it every single time.

Who are they?
Before you start

Your family’s memories deserve care.

Lovingly Kept brings photographs, written stories and voice recordings together in a personalised family memory book. Here is what matters to us as we build it.

Your memories, shared on your terms

Your family stories are personal. We’re building Lovingly Kept around controlled sharing, so families can contribute to a book without making their memories public.

Your words, your story

Family memories should sound like the people who shared them. We preserve contributors’ own words rather than rewrite, summarise or polish their stories with AI.

You choose what belongs in the book

The person creating the book decides which contributions appear in the finished keepsake.

Photographs that remain yours

Photographs should reflect the moments your family captured. We avoid decorative filters and retouching that change the original image.

A keepsake to hold on to

Family photographs, stories and voices together in one personalised memory book. Digital first, with printed books planned.

The photograph nobody can name.

Every family has a box of them. Add the ones you can't place, and the family helps you work out who, where and when.

  • Who might these people be?
  • Where might this have been taken?
  • Is anything written on the back?

A guess is welcome. “Edie?” stays on the photograph until someone knows for sure. When the family has worked it out, mark it We've worked it out.

A life story book

Dad, In His Own Words

Grace’s dad, Desmond, is living with dementia. The family gathers his life story while they can share it with him: his photographs, and the stories of the people who know him best.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

A few things you may want to know before you start.

Who can contribute?

Anyone you invite. Family members, friends, children, grandchildren and other people who share memories of the person or family can each add their own contribution.

Can I add voice recordings?

Yes, if you’d like to. Voices are optional. In the book, a small audio card sits beside that story, and scanning it with a phone camera plays the original recording. During early access, the audio cards stop working when your project is deleted after 14 days. We plan to let you download every recording with your book, so you always have your own copy.

Do you use AI to write the stories?

No. Lovingly Kept doesn't rewrite, summarise or polish anyone's memories. What goes into the book is exactly what your family wrote or said.

Can I colourise a black-and-white photograph?

Lovingly Kept keeps your photographs as they are. If you’d like a colour version, apps such as Photomyne (opens in a new tab) or MyHeritage (opens in a new tab) can colourise an old photograph. You can then upload the colour version, and the original too if you’d like both in the book.

What keeps strangers out of the book?

Each person you invite gets their own private link, made just for them, which can’t be guessed. It only opens the photograph you shared it for, not the rest of your book. You can close any link at any time, remove any memory, and leave anything out of the book.

Who can see our memories, and what goes in the book?

Only you and the people you invite. Links are private. At Lovingly Kept, only our team can access them, and only to fix a problem or when you ask us for help. You see every memory before the book is made, and you choose which photographs go in.

Is it a subscription?

No. During early access, making and downloading a book is free for a limited number of families. From launch, the digital book is planned at £19, paid once per book. There’s nothing to renew.

Is there a printed book?

Lovingly Kept starts as a digital book. Printed books are planned, and we’ll let you know when they’re available.

Can I create a book about someone living with dementia?

Yes. You can gather the photographs, stories and voices that capture the person and their life beyond their diagnosis. “I’m not sure” and “I don’t remember” are always fine answers. Lovingly Kept is a keepsake, not a medical or therapy product.

Do you work with care homes?

We’d love to. If you’re a care home or social care provider and would like to help residents’ families make life story books, email info@lovinglykept.com.

What if my family needs more time?

Collecting memories can take a while, especially when relatives are slow to reply. You can add 14 more days to a project once, and ask us to email you a reminder before it’s deleted, so you can download your book in time.

Can I create more than one book?

Yes. You can make more than one book from your family’s photographs and memories. During early access, every book is free. You can download each one at any time, and 14 days after it’s started we delete it, so your family’s memories don’t sit on our servers.

Some memories are too important to leave scattered.

Bring your family's photographs, stories and voices together and create something worth keeping.
